- Introduction
- Kabilan Vairamuthu is a writer and activist from South India. He is the son of the renowned Tamil poet and lyricist Vairamuthu. He published his first book at the age of 18. He is the author of five poetry collections, a short story collection, and a novel. He is also the founder of Makkal Anukka Peravai, a social service organization which works for the upliftment of youth. The movement was started with a group of thirty college students and it now has a worldwide network. The members’ causes are education, protection of the environment and political awareness.

- Kabilan is the second son of Vairamuthu and Ponmani Vairamuthu, a couple known for their literary contributions in Tamil. Vairamuthu is a renowned lyricist and a six-time National Award winner. Ponmani Vairamuthu, a Tamil scholar, has published a number of poetry collections and a novel, and worked as a lecturer in Meenakshi College for Women, Chennai for 22 years. Kabilan's elder brother Madhan Karky who has a doctorate in sensor networks, is also a lyricist with a number of songs to his credit.
- Education and career
- Kabilan studied in Loyola Matriculation Higher Secondary School, Chennai. He staged a lot of dramas during his schooling. He did his under graduation in SRM Engineering College, Katankalathur, and got a job in a software company through campus placements. After two years of work, he decided to switch over to journalism and media. He pursued his Masters in Communication for Social Change in the University of Queensland, Australia. He is currently a producer of Puthiya Thalaimurai, a television channel that airs motivational programs aimed at the youth.
- Uyirsol
- Uyirsol is Kabilan's upcoming novel. It is a true story based on post-natal depression. Kabilan has penned a theme song for the novel, with music by N.R.Rahnanthan and vocals by Harini Tippu. This is the first time in the history of Tamil literature that a theme song has been recorded for a novel. The song can be downloaded at the exclusive website which has been created to promote the novel. Many personalities like K.Balachander, SP Muthuraman, R.Parthiban, Sivakumar, Pandiyarajan have appreciated this new effort.
