Heavy Metal album, regarded as a first in Afrikaans music.

Beginning

The seismic effects following the dissolution of the Springbok Nude Girls in 2001 have mostly dissipated, except for all the SA music websites still promote their stats with hits from the many "Netters" really looking for "nude girls". But the band's presence sorely missed, and many fans watching and waiting for the individual members 'solo years' career began. There were a few, short Crous and Carstens acoustic sets, and a few sex tips for boys matter with ex-Nudies trumpeter Adriaan Brand is promising, but nothing like this until now.

Kobus! The duo initially formed in November 2000 by Theo Crous (Nudies guitarist) and Francois Blom (ex-Voice of Destruction singer). Their debut album, 'Kobus! Arriving in a South African rock scene where we find some new rock bands are working hard to make their images improve to hopefully Seether's slipstream in the U.S. now rock heartland catch, while others like Starskii, LILO, and Dolly Rockers are investigating the broader and quieter rock borders with folk and alt-country.Louis is Cool Theo said on the Talkshow Balls Out. On the African rock before, especially as Bees, Brixton Murder and Robbery Orchestra, and Karen Zoid recorded classic rock sounds to intelligent lyrics written to reflect and interpret life in SA today.

Kobus! But head straight for the head, so it's softer, trippy sounds and vocals of early Pink Floyd with this large comfortable couch of an album, though two beautiful chord African folk symphonies with blurry distant vocals, and a psychedelic sheen that seeps into every (digital) slot of this hour-long musical pleasure cruise. Songs like "Sunday Morning", the hauntingly gorgeous-"Your Eyes" or the reflective 'Do You Now ", runs over and through you, a perfect new soundtrack for those living in the land of the Lotus Eaters and elsewhere.

But it's not all smooth sailing, and there are some harder moments dotted through the album. To pay respect tribute, and this new law to put in a historical musical context, the album begins with a spicy "bag-bag 'wandering through a recitation of all the big names in African pop-rock over the years. This ends with the repeated phrase "Who is Kobus?" that gradually shakes his old tune and go with a modern part of dance electronica.

Then, in the middle of the album, we meet die 'Hoenderman', a terminally weird headbanging song which has a very funny chickens clucking chorus and the most likely to get radio play, creating a wrong perception the whole album. "Bat" is a happy little song that explores the mystical powers of multiplying the number nine and the last number, 'Gee Raat! "Gallops off into the sunset with the duo sound like they recorded this squeaky vocals after ingesting some helium.

All in all, 'Kobus! "Is the sound of SA music rulebooks are torn up and used as Rizlas. This is an exceptional album and a landmark for the emerging African rock scene and its emerging rock poets. A new path appears and Theo Crous is back ( before). (SS)

Hoenderman

Hoenderman (Chickenman) is one of the band's best known songs. The song narrative tells about a night when "Kobus" wakes up and finds a "chickenman" at the foot of his bed. He offers the chickenman a beer, but the chickenman scratches his floor, drinks all of Kobus' beer and makes loud chicken noises. The chickenman then leaves, and the next night, brings his whole family.
