History

KMXN signed on the air in 1981 as KZOC (KZ-93), a country station serving Emporia, Kansas. By the mid-1990s, the station was known as KANS, and the format was 50s-60s oldies fed by satellite. After an ownership change to 3 Point Communications in 2003, the station began targeting Topeka and flipped to Rhythmic CHR as "Wild 92.9" after stunting with Tone-Loc's Wild Thing

. This transition to a Topeka-focused station led to a slew of format changes to adult hits as "92.9 Max FM" in July 2005, classic rock as "X 92.9" in February 2006, and active rock in 2007 while keeping the "X 92.9" moniker.
On October 6, 2009 the station began stunting with television theme music. One day later, country station "92.9 the Bull" debuted. The Bull features 20 in a row country. The station competes with three Topeka country stations and three Kansas City country stations. On-air staff includes, Big D & Bubba in the morning from 5-9am. Program director, Amber Lee, 9a-2p. Music Director, Kyle Kristopher, 2p-6p. Nights, 6p-11p, The Jeremy Show.
