 format under the callsign KRIX and slogan "99X" in the 1980s. The aired a Rhythmic CHR format as KRGY "Energy 99.5" beginning 1991-02-08 under previous owner Sunburst Media. On 1992-09-01, the station changed its call sign to KVSE then again on 1992-12-28 to the current KKPS.
