KJCE began its life in the 1950s as KTXN, one of the first Spanish language radio stations in Texas. It later became KOKE, the AM side of the legendary KOKE country radio brand in Austin in the 1970s. The station would later return to Spanish language as KMMM and also try Beautiful Music before switching to satellite-formated Urban as K-Juice, where it switched calls to KJCE.
