On September 8, 2004, the format was changed to a commercial alternative rock

On December 15, 2009 KIST-FM changed their call letters to KQIE.

On February 10, 2010 KQIE changed their call letters back to KIST-FM.

On July 20, 2010 KIST-FM changed their call letters to KFYZ.

On September 10, 2010 KFYZ changed their call letters back to KIST-FM.

On December 23, 2010, KFYZ flipped to Top 40, but KIST continued with the current format.
