The station was originally licensed as KLBA-FM on November 18, 1992 but changed callsigns to KIIC on August 7, 2007.

The transmitter and broadcast tower are located east of Albia adjacent to the Albia Golf and Country Club. According to the Antenna Structure Registration database, the tower is 149.3 m (490 ft) tall with the FM broadcast antenna mounted at the 131 m (430 ft) level.
