K. A. Krishnaswamy was an India

. He is the younger brother of K. A. Mathiazhagan
. Initially he belonged to the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam
(DMK) and was a Member of the Rajya Sabha
.
In 1972 when M. G. Ramachandran
(MGR) started the Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (ADMK) he joined the party as the second member, next only to MGR.
K. A. Krishnaswamy was the first Organising Secretary of the Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam started by M. G. Ramachandran
. He was the owner & editor of 'Thennagam' daily newspaper which subsequently became the official organ of ADMK.
M. G. Ramachandran
was fondly known as 'Puratchinadigar MGR' till he started ADMK. It was K. A. Krishnaswamy who rechristened MGR's title from 'Puratchinadigar MGR' to Puratchithalaivar MGR in 1972.
He was a member of the Tamil Nadu Legislative Council briefly before being elected to Legislative Assembly from Thousand Lights constituency
in 1980
. He was reelected in the 1984
, and 1991
elections.
During 1978-87 he held portfolios like Cooperation, Small Industries, Dairy Development and Local Administration in MGR's cabinet. During 1991-96 he was the minister for Law in J. Jayalalitha's cabinet. He retired from active politics in 1996.
