In the last pre-season game against the Cincinnati Bengals he threw 12 for 21 for 154 yards with one touchdown and one interception. The game ended with a loss to Indianapolis when Jonny Harline caught Batts' desperation pass at the 1-yard line and was tackled as time ran out.
