Above & Beyond are a British trance music group formed in 2000 and consists of the members Jono Grant, Tony McGuinness, and Finnish Paavo Siljamäki. They have their own record label Anjunabeats, which releases trance and progressive music, and they also host their own weekly radio show Trance...

.

From a very early age Jono learned to play the piano and guitar, and moved on to synthesisers as soon as he could afford to buy them after being inspired as a child by the music of Jean-Michel Jarre, the Pet Shop Boys, New Order and others. Later Jono was inspired by a particular Radio 1 Essential mix by Paul Oakenfold, and it was this that led him to start to produce dance music.

Earliest mainstream recognition of Jono was when he was offered to remix the Strike "You Sure Do" in 1999. "Jono's Big Mix" became the lead mix of the re-release and was playlisted on Kiss FM's A-list. This was produced during study for his degree in Commercial Music at the University of Westminster, where he also developed his sound design skills working freelance programming sounds for Yamaha's synthesisers. It was also at the University of Westminster that he met Paavo Siljamaki, with whom he established the now legendary Anjunabeats record label.

Initially Anjunabeats was established to provide a way of releasing their own productions - under the names "Anjunabeats" and "Free State", but as time passed the strong brand and reputation for quality control started to attract other artists that make it the label it is today.

Shortly after establishing Anjunabeats, Jono met Tony McGuinness (director of marketing at Warner Music UK) through his brother Liam McGuinness who had bought a sound library that Jono had created and got in touch.

Tony was offered to remix the classic track Chakra "Home", and wanted to work on it with some producers and chose to work with Jono & Paavo. Above & Beyond
