 in Seoul, South Korea. There he finished in 7th position in the 200m Butterfly finals, and in twelfth place with the 400m Individual Medley. He also won a silver, and two bronze medals at the Commonwealth Games in Auckland, New Zealand in 1990. He was inducted into the University of Victoria Sports Hall of Fame in 2006. He swam for les Dauphins of Toulouse, France in 1992; his team won the French National Championships. Jon was consistently one of the top swimmers in Canada for the 200 m Butterfly, and 400 and 200m I.M. during his seven years on the Canadian Swim Team. Another notable achievement was his 200m Butterfly gold medal win at the US Open in Indianapolis. '
