John Albert Gogo is a former provincial politician and career soldier in the Canadian Armed Forces. From 1949 to 1962 he served as a in the Canadian Army attaining the rank of Sargent. He served as a member of the Legislative Assembly of Alberta

Early life

Gogo was born in Toronto in 1932. He joined the Canadian Armed Forces. He went overseas and served in combat in the Korea War. In 1972 Gogo became President of the Rotary Club of Lethbridge.

Gogo ran as a Progressive Conservative candidate in the 1975 Alberta general election

 by a wide margin to win his first term in office and pickup the seat for the Progressive Conservatives. He was re-elected in the 1979 Alberta general election

 significantly increasing his popular vote. In the 1982 Alberta general election

 Gogo won a landslide, the largest plurality of his political career as he defeated four other candidates. He would lose almost 5,000 votes from his 1982 total running for a fourth term in office in the 1986 Alberta general election

Late life

On May 31, 2007 Gogo was awarded an honorary honorary doctorate degree from the University of Lethbridge
