Johanna Karolina von Trapp (7 September 1919 – 25 November 1994) was the sixth child of Georg Ludwig von Trapp and his first wife Agathe Whitehead . She was a member of the Trapp Family Singers, whose lives were the inspiration for the play and film The Sound of Music

, because their home, a lake hotel called "Kitzsteinhorn", was flooded. Before living in the hotel, the von Trapp Family had lived on a farm called "Erlhof" near Agathe Whitehead von Trapp's mother and sisters.

In 1922, when von Trapp was nearly three years old, her mother died of scarlet fever

 and was buried in Klosterneuburg. The family moved to Salzburg-Aigen in 1925.

Career

The family left Austria in summer of 1938 and went to America when she was nearly nineteen years old. She sang first soprano in the family chorus together with her sister Agathe von Trapp

Von Trapp married Ernst Florian Winter

 on Easter Monday in 1948 and had seven children. She lived with her family—four daughters and three sons (Ernst Florian Winter Jr. died in 1969 in his early teens)—in Austria and America.

She worked together with her sisters Agathe and Maria Franziska in 1993 on an exhibition in Salzburg. In 1994 she died in Vienna after the effects of a stroke at the age of 75. She was buried in Vienna.
