In Sept 2011, Finley accepted an invitation to the Buffalo Sabres tryouts. While he failed to make the cut, the Rochester Americans
(Buffalo's farm club) signed him to a contract. The Sabres and Finley reached a multi-year contract that will allow Finley to be called up to the Sabres organization; the day after the deal was completed, Finley was called up to the Sabres.
