Biography

Jimmy is the son of The Upright Man. The Upright man is leader of the Mockers: Krondor's guild of thieves. Jimmy has grown up on the streets as a thief and a pickpocket; he shows exceptional talent as a thief and is known to be very quick and dextrous. When introduced into the novel Jimmy's age is unclear (Jimmy doesn't know himself as he was orphaned) although he guesses at 14 or 15. Jimmy meets with Arutha conDoin

.

Arutha later becomes the Prince of the Western Realm of which Krondor is the capital. In Silverthorn, the second book of the Riftwar series, Jimmy intervenes when a hired assassin - from a guild known as the Nighthawks - tries to kill Arutha. Jimmy breaks into the palace grounds to inform of the attempt and to tell him that the assassin was a member of the Nighthawks. With Jimmy's help, Arutha is able to capture two members of the Nighthawks and to question them whereby he learns of the dark powers arrayed against him. Jimmy then helps Arutha set up a meeting with the Mockers to help him track down the lair of the Nighthawks which is somewhere in the city. This meeting with the Mockers ends with the Upright Man agreeing to help Arutha in exchange for making Jimmy a squire. This is the first indication in the books of Jimmy's parentage.

Jimmy shows many uses as a squire, but still reverts back to his old ways of finding secret passages and climbing walls. Jimmy later goes on to become the Duke of Krondor: the most powerful man in the Western realm after the Prince. Jimmy gains this position partly due to how many times he saves Prince Arutha's life, and his close connections with the Mockers which help him keep the city in order. Jimmy marries Pug's
