Jimmy Smith has written two books. The first, entitled "Soul of the Game", was written in 1997 about the raw, physical beauty of street basketball. It won a Gold Medal in the 1998 Stiftung Buchkunst International Book Art Competition and was voted among the "14 Most Beautiful Books of the World" by the Copenhagen Museum of Applied Arts. His second book, "The Truth" was published in 1999.
