Lindberg also released his first book in May 2007 titled Punk Rock Dad: No Rules, Just Real Life. The book explores the dichotomy of being a responsible husband and parent raising 3 daughters while fronting an anti-establishment punk rock band and includes a number of anecdotes relating to each role.

, before Jim was kicked out of the band for his refusal to do the bands first European tour. Dave Quackenbush from The Vandals handled the vocals for that 6 week tour. After that tour Jason took over vocal duties, and Randy Bradbury was added as the new bass player. Jim returned to the band during the final days of the Unknown Road recording session...while Bradbury was sidelined, they had moderate chart success, with their next album bout Time album) reaching the Billboard

 top 100, unfortunately, Thirsk died of an accidental self-inflicted gunshot wound on July 29 at the age of 28. Although Pennywise considered disbanding after Thirsk's death, the band decided to continue on with Bradbury as his permanent replacement. Since then, Pennywise continued to record and perform.

In August 2009, Lindberg announced that he was leaving Pennywise. He released the following statement:
It was later revealed that Jim left Pennywise due to creative differences and the fact that he didn't want to tour as much as his bandmates aspired to.

Personal life

Lindberg now lives in Manhattan Beach, California. He has been married for years and has children (who attend Manhattan Beach Middle School). He has also attended El Camino College and went on to later to graduate from UCLA in 1989.
