, Silent Teaching, was released in 2001. Her music genre is best described as soul/folk/rock/ acoustic/soft rock/adult alternative. Jillian Speer has a deep interest and passion in making music and she also holds a true concern for humanity and the environment.

Early life

Born and raised north of Seattle in the Pacific Northwest, Speer was a natural born performing artist thriving on dance, music, and acting. Speer studied dance from age three (ballet, tap, jazz, & modern) and competed nationally and regionally till she was 16 years old. Speer started studying voice at nine, and classical guitar at ten.

At age 16, Speer received an International scholarship to study in India for one year, where she became a certified yoga instructor and learned how to play the sitar.
Speer cut her first demo at age fourteen, and recorded her first album at 18. Soon after, she went on tour opening for Jewel.

She has remained on her own label, Speerit Records, and continues to record and release her albums independently.

Recent projects

Speer has played at New York City's Songwriters Hall of Fame, and two of California's biggest music festivals, Reggae on the River and Earthdance Festival.
Her title song, "Angel Among Us", was selected and released in a Songwriters Hall of Fame compilation CD. Speer has been nominated "Best Album of the Year," by the LA Music Awards.

In 2005, an entertainment segment about Speer was featured on Oprah's cable channel, Oxygen.
In 2007, Speer composed the score for an HBO documentary on foster children.

Social entrepreneur

Speer believes strongly in tying together artistic and political parties to facilitate solutions and increase awareness on the issues we face today regarding human rights, environmental urgencies, political issues, abuse, and poverty.

"My dream is to help raise the consciousness of humanity through positive and empowering music, for, it's force is unspeakable. Music is something that everyone can connect with and derive great inspiration from. We must realize that what lies behind music is a deep healing energy for the soul of humankind. I want to help people cultivate the inspiration and motivation to evolve into higher realms. It is a blessing to be able to do this kind of work with art, and I dedicate my life to it."
