Jason Dundas

Jason Dundas is an Australian television presenter and actor who is best known for his role as host of Australia’s most popular travel series Getaway, along with his early career as an MTV Australia VJ. Jason is currently based in New York, where he is the pop culture correspondent on VH1’s Big Morning Buzz Live.

Early life

Dundas was born in Penrith, Sydney to Ross Dundas, and Diane Dundas. He attended Jamison High School, and later went on to study at the School of Communication Arts at the University of Western Sydney where he studied a Bachelor of Design (Visual Communication). In his first year at University at age 19, Dundas launched his own graphic design company ASTN.

MTV

Dundas commenced his television career in 2003 after winning a national competition to become an MTV Australia VJ. He hosted the weekly Australian-based chart show Homebuzz, along with the local version of the international flagship request program TRL. He also hosted a special version of the show TRL at MTV London’s Leicester Square studio in 2004. During his time at MTV, Dundas interviewed acts such as 50 Cent, Beyonce, and Ozzy Osbourne.
Dundas hosted MTV News from 2004- 2005. He also hosted other seasonal local programs such as Snow Cave, Full Tank, Beach House, and several surfing specials entitled Back Door To…. which saw him presenting from surfing locations such as Tahiti, Maui, and Jeffreys Bay.
He also created and developed an Australian version of MTV Sports.
Dundas conducted red carpet interviews at the MTV Europe Music Awards in 2004 from Rome. He was also a co-presenter at the Australia Video Music Awards (AVMA’s) and conducted red carpet interviews in 2005 and 2006. He was a co-presenter at the ceremony with Kim Kardashian in 2008.
While at MTV, Dundas designed the TRL corporate identity, logo and studio set design, along with various other MTV studio elements.

Channel Nine

In 2006, Dundas joined the cast of Australia’s most popular weekly travel program Getaway which airs on the Nine Network. During his time at Getaway, Dundas has presented the program from over forty countries.
He has hosted Getaway specials from the Greek Islands, Hawaii and Indonesia, and in 2011, he hosted a special for the Royal Wedding of Prince William and Kate Middleton, from London.

In October 2011, Dundas was selected to be the pop culture correspondent for VH1’s Big Morning Buzz Live. The program is a daily, hour-long entertainment program, which is filmed live from New York’s Times Square. Dundas has interviewed celebrities such as Tyra Banks for the program.

Other television roles

Dundas has been a guest on the weekly Nine Network program 20 to 1, he has appeared several times as a guest on the Kerri-Anne program, and has appeared on Hole In The Wall, and So Fresh. He was also a guest presenter at the 2009 Logie Awards. Jason hosted and produced a segment for Nine Network’s Wide World Of Sports in 2008 from New Zealand.

Acting

Dundas appeared in the 2008 film Fool’s Gold alongside Matthew McConaughey and Kate Hudson. He filmed a guest role on the Australian drama Sea Patrol in 2010.

Other media

In 2006, Dundas won the FOXTEL Celebrity Poker Tournament. He won $100, 000 and donated $50, 000 to the Starlight Foundation charity. In 2008, Dundas was named Cleo Magazine’s “Bachelor Of The Year”.

DJ-ing

Dundas is a regular DJ. He was the official DJ at the after party of the 2006 MTV Australia Video Music Awards, and he has DJ-ed at various parties around Australia.
