The Jarasum International Jazz Festival began in 2004 with 30 teams of jazz artists from 12 countries. Well established as a significant international festival, Every year, over 100,000 people visit this particularly popular festival and 95% of the attendees are actually previous visitors. This year, the festival runs from September 30 (Friday) to October 3 (Monday)at Jarasum (which means "terrapin island" in Korean) located in the center of the Korean peninsula.

Main line up for previous years include Nah Youn Sun & French All-Stars, Batucada Sound Machine, Nils Landgren Funk Unit, and P.A.F.(Paolo Fresu-Antonello Salis-Furio Di Castri).
