LDP was in majority, nevertheless SDPJ (SDPJ was known as Japan Socialist Party (JSP) till 1991) garnered more seats than the previous 1986 election of the House of Representatives and in 1993, SDPJ failed to increase number of seats and not a single party including LDP was in majority.
