Playing career

Intenbergs is considered one the all time greatest footballers from Liepāja

. A goal-eager striker, for the most part of his career as a player he played in his hometown of Liepāja and at this time he was the most popular player on the Zvejnieks Liepāja team. In his most successful season for Zvejnieks in 1984 Intenbergs scored 28 goals in 35 games (second result in the league, more than half of the teams goals). In seven seasons he was the best goalscorer for Zvejnieks, he also played two seasons for FK Daugava Rīga

In 1987 Intenbergs was back in Liepāja. Intenbergs became the first footballer from Liepāja to play abroad - in 1990-1991 played in Olsztyn
