, in 1964. Her father is a retired professor of religious studies, and her mother, who died in January 2010, was screenwriter and erotic poet Marilyn Jordan. Janice Jordan has a daughter, Jharae. Jordan also helped raise her neice, Asia, after Asia's mother died.

Jordan lives in San Diego, California's second-largest city. She was a candidate for Mayor, San Diego City Council and for U.S. Congress. She graduated from San Diego State University

She completed her Master's Degree in Community Counseling Psychology and worked in both the Alcohol and Drug Recovery and Domestic Violence fields. She is currently a Strength & Conditioning Trainer at Und1sputed Fitness & Training Center in San Diego. Jordan is also the lead trainer for the Und1sputed Ones, Und1sputed's Indoor Soccer Team.

Jordan has been in a long-term domestic partner relationship with professional mixed martial arts fighter Michael Pratt and works with him at Undisputed in San Diego. She received her Fitness Specialist Certificate from San Diego City College and was Kettlebell Certified through Agatsu Certification.

In early 2008, Jordan and her partner Michael created Ferdinand's Familia, an all species animal rescue dedicated to help abandoned, injured, relinquished and homeless animals. Ferdinand's Familia is the Department of Animal Services of San Diego's only all species rescue. Ferdinand's Familia is an all-volunteer organization that attempts to place animals in safe and healthy homes. The sanctuary is a home for horses and wolfdogs.
