Paringatai burst on to the scene in 2004 with the Junior Tall Blacks
. He debuted in the NZNBL with the Manawatu Jets
in 2005 as a 19 year old. Three years later he moved to the Wellington Saints
where he starred in the Conference Basketball League bagging a double-double in the final. He then moved to the Taranaki Dynamos
where he received a more prominent role averaging 13.2 ppg, however the side lost all of their sixteen games.
He was one of the first players to sign for the new Southland Sharks
franchise at the beginning of the 2010 New Zealand NBL season
. He moved to Invercargill
