In recent years, the Blaine Mansion has been used for commercial purposes.
The current owner, lawyer John R. Phillips, hired Eichberg Construction to renovate the property which includes adding an underground parking deck, adjoining six-story residential building, and Italian restaurant. The renovation cost an estimated $20 million dollars.

The Blaine Mansion is a contributing property to the Dupont Circle Historic District, and Massachusetts Avenue Historic District
