Jack Chambers (entertainer)

Jack Chambers (born 10 October 1988) is a dancer, singer, actor & choreographer, from Brisbane Australia. Jack is best known as Australia's Favourite Dancer.

Early life

Jack started dance lessons at Brisbane's Julie-Ann Lucas School of Dance at the age of three and continued there until he was 17. He combined this training with acting and singing studies.

Career

Jack's career took off at the age of 10 when he was cast in his very first Professional Musical, the stage production of The Sound of Music

, playing Kurt Von Trapp at the Lyric Theatre in Brisbane. He then ventured into video and television and was cast in a role for Japanese Children's Television. Prior to Jack's professional work in theatre, he was part of the amateur theatre community in Brisbane from the age of ten, working with companies such as Ocean Theatre Company, Queensland Musical Theatre and Harvest Rain Theatre Company.

In 2005, Jack collaborated with a friend within Harvest Rain Theatre Company, and devised an abstract production called Big Black Box, which earned him the "Young Star Award". From the age of 15, Jack started performing with the male tap group Raw Metal which years later became family dance company, Raw Dance Company. In 2007 Jack Choreographed and performed in Raw Dance Company's Production Project X at the Holland Dance Festival in Den Haag and The Singapore Arts Festival.

 winner in 2008. Since winning So You Think You Can Dance Jack has been living his dream of the dance career he longed for in New York. After teaching dance and performing throughout the United States for 18 months, Jack was contacted by Australian producers to come back down under and star as the teen hearthrob, Link Larkin, in an original production of 'Hairspray The Musical'. This was the moment in Jack's career where he showed that he was not only a consummate dancer, but a "terrific singer and terrific actor" - a true triple threat. Jack is currently in Sydney - the second stop on the tour - with Hairspray the Musical.
