His father Dahya Vira Chauhan was also a railway contractor; Jayram Dahya carried on his father's legacy as a railway contractor and later transformed himself into an industrialist, who founded J. D. Bytco Limited, an oral health-care & herbal product manufacturing company. He ventured in Hotel industry, founded Cinema Halls and was one of the top Industrialist of Nasik at one point of time.A main square of Nashik is known by name of Bytco Point, after him.

In later years of his life, he gave away much of his wealth in to charities. He founded the Muktidham

Bytco Commerce & Science Collage & J.D.C. Bytco Institute of Management & Higher Studies in Nashik.He also donated money to start a Hospital, now named Jairam Hospital, which is located in Nasik Road near Muktidham temple.
