north to U.S. 12 east, while southbound traffic is being directed to U.S. 12 west to U.S. 35 south. Some local residents began using Meer Road as an alternative route. This north–south rural road intersects U.S. Route 35 starting 0.5 mile (0.80467 km) southeast of the junction with State Road 212 and runs 3.8 miles (6.1 km) north, terminating at U.S. Route 12 just east of the junction with State Road 212.

The bridge reopened, after complete reconstruction, on June 12, 2008.
