"In Purgatory" was the debut single by McCarthy
released in 1985 on their own record label Wall Of Salmon Records. It was backed by "The Comrade Era" and "Something Wrong Somewhere".
"In Purgatory" can be found on the compilation A La Guillotine
, although it is a shorter version than the one released on the single. "The Comrade Era" and "Something Wrong Somewhere" can be found on both A La Guillotine and That's All Very Well But...
. The former, however, is also a different version than the one on the single. As of September 2007, the two alternate versions that appear on this 7-inch have yet to be released on any McCarthy CD.
