After the ogiso, the 'oba' dynasty was founded by Eweka I who became the first Oba and named his empire Edo and its people, Ovi-Edo (oviedo meaning native/child of Edo). The last ogiso was the grandfather of Eweka I.

The present Oba, Erediauwa I, is the 39th Oba of the dynasty from a lineage that was ultimately started by Igodo of Igodomigodo.
