. It lies between latitudes 20º 55' and 21º 14' north and the longitudes 89º 48' and 90º 12' west.

It borders the following municipalities: the north by the Gulf of Mexico, south to Samahil and Tetiz, east to Progress and Ucu and west Celestun.

Architectural Landmarks

These include a temple in honor of Santiago Apostle, built in the seventeenth century, a chapel dedicated to San Antonio, which do not have exact known years of construction, but they do date back to colonial times. A former convent and church of San Francisco built in the sixteenth century, the Guadalupe chapel dating from the eighteenth century as well as ex-haciendas of Santa Elena, San Joaquin and Chencopo.
