Humpy Bong was an early 1970s ephemeral band that sold no records. Tim Staffell joined after leaving Smile, a band he co-created with Brian May, and was replaced by Freddie Mercury, an acquaintance of Staffell. Smile then became no more, and Queen was born. Humpy Bong, going nowhere, went downhill, with the entire band eventually breaking up.
