Background

During a promo visit in the UK Eric saw the video for Dev's last single "Bass Down Low" and was completely blown away. Dev heard an early demo of "Hotter Than Fire", and said yes immediately to the request if she wanted to be part of the song. Talking about "Hotter than Fire" Eric Said: "It's a song that shows quite clearly where I am going. I love electro-pop and I feel like I’m in the middle of the development to begin to find what I want to do. When Dev wanted to sing on the song it became the icing on the cake. Her "rap song" style was so perfect for the song. She made it sexy".

Critical reception

Pop Crush gave the song a positive review stating:

It’s more of the crisply produced, club-friendly pop that Saade’s become known for, with a thoroughly modern, David Guetta-lite house flair that would sound right at home in a stateside club. The lyrics are fairly conventional hot-girl-in-the-club stuff, albeit with slightly more elemental stakes: “She’s cooler than ice / Flyer than wind / Hotter than fire.”

Dev adds something special to the track, though — in the chorus, spacey beats and handclaps give way to her chilled-out vocals: “I say I’m flammable, I’m TNT, light it up,” she coos over pummeling synths, before Saade jumps back in with his soaring refrain of, “She’s hotter than fire.”
