In May 2009, the Shangri-La was recognized in TIME as the 4th Greenest hotel in the world. The hotel utilizes many energy saving features, such as a solar powered pool, Natura Green toiletries, low-flow dual flush toilets, and an onsite water filtration system.

Restaurant

The Dining Room at Hotel Shangri-La opened in June 2009 and is owned by Los Angeles restaurateur Marc Smith.

The style of cuisine can be described as “California French”. The Dining Room supports a “farm-to-table” philosophy, with all ingredients coming directly from the nearby Santa Monica Farmer’s Market.
