The school's mission statement is:
"to provide a challenging and supportive environment for students with diverse learning styles. Small classes and personalized attention help our students become confident and responsible learners to achieve academic success in a college preparatory environment."

Hopewell was founded in 2004 by Cecilia Gabriel. It officially opened its doors in 2005 with grades 7-12 , and starting in the 2006-2007 school year it served students from grades 4-12.

The school has a wide range of extracurricular activities. After school sports include basketball, cheerleading, soccer, and tennis. Hopewell is a member of the Central Carolina Athletic League.

The school has had two deans of students, Leigh Mullins and Valerie Anderson, respectively.

The school colors are red and black, the mascot is the Tigers, and it is accredited by SACS
