During the meeting of Redeemer's allies, Hippo mentioned his background as those who had their parts eaten off by Venom are outfitted with cybernetic parts. When it came to Redeemer's gang attacking "Spider-Man," Hippo and Eleven are eaten by Venom while Doctor Everything was arrested and the others escaped.
Hippo managed to turn up alive where he was seen fighting New Avengers members Spider-Man and Ronin
. Both of them had a hard time taking down Hippo until Luke Cage
ends up falling on Hippo defeating him.
During the "Origin of the Species" storyline, Hippo was among the supervillains gathered by Doctor Octopus
to secure specific items for him in exchange for a reward.
