Hillside is a small neighborhood on the near-northeastside of Indianapolis

 and is part of the larger Brightwood neighborhood. The neighborhood is concentrated near the intersection of East 25th Street and Hillside Avenue.

Like many Indianapolis neighborhoods, Hillside suffered from significant urban decay

 and blight in the 1980s and 1990s. Since then, efforts to rehabilitate the area have become a priority for the residents of the neighborhood.
