History

Hillgrove High School was built on 98 acres (396,592.3 m²). The land was donated to Young Harris College and sold to the Cobb County School District by Dr. Harry Hill and Mrs. Harriet Hargrove Hill. They purchased the land in 1952 to raise cattle and Tennessee Walking Horses; however, they donated it to Young Harris College for the purpose of expanding liberal arts education.

Logos and school colors

A small council of students from neighboring Cobb County Schools met to choose Hillgrove's mascot, the hawk. The hawk was chosen as the mascot because the students noticed many indigenous hawks lived around the property Hillgrove was built on. The school's trademark, the "H" with a sharp beak in the middle, was created by Chip Bush. He is a member of the West Cobb community. The school colors are a bold crimson and a striking silver. As further construction continues, the colors of Hillgrove High School are being incorporated into the school's design, to create an environment full of pride and accomplishment for faculty and students.http://www.cobbk12.org/hillgrove/logocolors.htm
