HeyStaks is a social search company. It works via an iPhone mobile app , an Android mobile app , an iPad app and an Android tablet app
The service is based on the notion of users communities. Each Community is user-created entity that holds popular and highly rated search results on a given topic from a range of search engines including Bing, Google and Yahoo.
The company is a startup based in Dublin and San Francisco, and was founded by Barry Smyth, Peter Briggs and Maurice Coyle.

History

Heystaks was founded in 2008 and is based on technology developed by a group of researchers in search, data mining and personalization. In 2009 they released version one of their software, although it was only available as part of a private beta which users had to request an account for. On January 13, 2011 the service was made public .

Initial Funding

In October 2010 Heystaks secured funding of 1 million euro The Ulster Bank Diageo Venture Fund, which is managed by NCB Ventures. The fund is being used to develop the companies product, open an office is San Francisco and employ 40 staff by the end of 2013.
