Heavy Young Heathens is an American alternative indie rock duo made up of brothers Aron and Robert Mardo, who have been compared to UK rock band Primal Scream
, as well as Black Rebel Motorcycle Club
and The Libertines
. Looking for a change in direction, the pair quickly started recording as just a duo of Bass and Drums after the dissolution of their last band. Out of necessity, the band was “Forced to forge the Do-it-Yourself path of record making, touring and merchandising”. The duo claims the name Heavy Young Heathens comes from a neighbor’s description of the brothers to the arresting police officer during a childhood run-in with the law.
Their self-titled debut hit the FMQB
Top 5 on the album chart, and the single "Sha La La La La" charted at #16 on FMQB
