History

Heart Internet web hosting was founded by Tim Beresford and Jonathan Brealey, who previously set up and ran web hosting companies WebFusion in 1997 and its sister brand 123-reg in 2001. In March 2003 Jonathan and Tim left the company, and in 2004 they launched Heart Internet, selling domain names, Linux

 shared hosting, Linux reseller hosting and free web hosting. In November 2008 Linux and Windows dedicated servers were added to the product line, and in January 2009, Windows reseller hosting was launched. In July 2009, Heart Internet made an API available to its reseller services to enable their resellers to build applications using the Heart Internet reseller platform.

Since the company’s formation in 2004, it has grown to become one of the UK’s largest web hosts and in November 2009, it was named the UK's 2nd fastest growing technology company and the 7th fastest growing in EMEA. It is also a member and tag holder of Nominet, enabling it to directly register and update .uk domains on behalf of customers.

Heart Telecom

Heart Telecom was founded on 25 June 2008 by Jonathan Brealey and Tim Beresford (who are the Directors of Heart Internet) and Stephen Halstead (who has previously been head of operations and finance at Toucan Telecom), with the view to saving businesses and professionals money on their line rental and call costs. The range of solutions included fixed line voice, data and IP, standard and specialist non-geographic numbers, line rental and broadband.

Heart Telecom amalgamated with 2 Circles Communications in February 2011 and is no longer using the Heart Telecom name.
