Chippenham Grammar School existed on the site from 1939, which was co-educational until Chippenham High School for Girls opened on 28 September 1956. From 1966, education was shared with adjacent schools, as a semi-comprehensive arrangement.

Comprehensive

In 1975 it became the fully comprehensive Hardenhuish School, when both boys' and girls' schools were merged. It became a specialist Maths & Computing College in February 2003, and a Science College in April 2009.
