for students aged 16–18. There are currently around 1200 pupils at HCC (as it's known locally).
Hailsham Community College has five buildings, a main block, science block, craft block and youth block, as well as an extensive sports hall. The sports hall is a million pounds lottery-funded building which was built in 2006.
The school is split up into five different houses: Torvill, Jackson, Bannister, Grey-Thompson and Redgrave.

The college has a pathway system in which select students are able to take their GCSE exams a year early.

The college believes in high standards, respect for others, hard work, self discipline and active involvement in the life of the community. Its successes have been recognised by national awards and considerable parental support. In addition the exam results continue to improve with some outstanding performances in the recent ‘A’ level and GCSE examinations. Students behaving in the correct manor, are now rewarded with "rewards points", also known as R.P'S, many students see this as a great way to earn a lovetoshop voucher and many students love the idea of being able to get money off in primark, even though this touches upon the controversial issue of child labour being used by such businesses..

In 2006 HCC was awarded the prestigious Sportsmark standard for its work in PE and within the wider community. In June 2007 it gained the Healthy Schools Gold standard, in recognition of its work to support the health and wellbeing of the students.

Hailsham Community College has been a ‘Full Service’ Extended school since 2004 and has an extensive team of staff within and beyond the college on whose skills and expertise are used to support its learners.

Recently the school changed the uniform to blazers, shirts and ties.
