. She had originally been built for the Brazilian Navy

 but was bought by Britain on the outbreak of the Second World War. She resembled the standard destroyers of H class but displaced 1,400 tons and was completed with extra depth charge stowage in the intended "Y" gun position. Highlander and sank in October, 1940. In 1942/43 Highlander was modified further as an anti-submarine escort, with her "A" gun being replaced with a hedgehog and the director removed. Highlander was broken up in 1946.
