 and trains were withdrawn from 30 September 1946 but was not officially closed until 1955. Train movements through the station continued until 1967, with the closure of the line to Lakeside.

A section of the line has reopened as part of the Lakeside and Haverthwaite Railway

, but the station itself has since been demolished and the trackbed between itself and to the north towards Ulverston used for road improvements.
It is hoped one day the Lakeside & Haverthwaite Railway could possibly extend to Greenodd by requiring a new level crossing as the section between Greenodd itself and Haverthwaite is still completely free from re-development, as finances allow. Though Greenodd would be made a terminus as the place itself and land towards Ulverston beyond is blocked by the widened bypass road close by.
