Great Sampford is situated in a rural area of the countryside. It is connected to Hempstead by Howe Lane.

The places of worship are the Baptist Church, which also has a pre-school called Little Learners in a small detached building to the side, and St.Marys church.

Also the village has a park and a cricket club. The park includes a skatepark, which has a half pipe, a quarter pipe and a rail. Also it has a football pitch about the size of a 9 a-side pitch and a small climbing frame for younger kids.
