For the radio and commercial release of the single, Branch re-recorded vocals, and wrote a new instrumental arrangement for single release. The "radio edit" was more up-tempo, verse the "album version" which is more the style of a ballad.

The video's story is set in reverse and Branch has said that the format is supposed to be similar to the movie Memento. The video was directed by Francis Lawrence. The remixed version of Goodbye to You is known as the "Radio Remix".
