Glenn Manton

Glenn Manton is a former Australian rules footballer who played for Carlton and Essendon. He usually played in defence but was occasionally used up forward.
He made his AFL debut in 1992 at 18 for the Bombers and played 21 games over 3 seasons for them. He joined the Blues in 1995 and played 12 games for the club as a tall key defender despite his relatively small height. At the end of his career he had appeared 157 times for Carlton.
Glenn Manton was a part of the 1995 Carlton Premiership team and also played in the 1999 Grand Final where Carlton lost to North Melbourne. He played in 3 night premierships for both Carlton and Essendon, a Reserve Grade Premiership for Essendon and by the conclusion of his career he was inducted into the AFL's 200 Club.
Glenn continues to impact the game via his coaching pursuits and mentoring of up and coming players.

Glenn Manton is a 178 game player for Essendon and Carlton Football clubs and a member of the 1995 Carlton Premiership side. A life member of Carlton FC, he’s an inductee into the AFL 200 Club and played in three pre-season Premierships.
Glenn has a diverse media background in radio, television and print. He was a regular on Vega 91.5, Fox Football programs and wrote a regular column for MX. He has run the gambit of various media from Channel 9’s Footy Show to community radio station 3RRR.
In 1999 he co-founded Whitelion, a not for profit organisation assisting youth in crisis within the juvenile justice system. The organisation offers a range of mentoring programs and Glenn is hands on motivating and building self confidence in young people in custodial centres.
Known throughout the wider community for his charity-based work, Glenn strikes an affinity with a large demographic. His ability to speak publicly to corporate groups or school aged youth is renowned. With a degree in Education and a top-selling semi autobiography (Dead Bolt 2004) to his credit Glenn continually shows that he is more than just a sportsperson. Having spent time in the favilas of Rio the communities of the Tiwi Islands and everything in-between Glenn has experienced life first hand.
Couple this knowledge of the world around him with his own unexpected personal story and you have an individual who is capable of honesty, compassion and human frailty. Glenn is an inspiring communicator.

Present day
Following his AFL career Glenn Manton made the transition to soccer with the South Melbourne Hellas, as they were known prior to the formataion of the A League. He then represented Australia in bobsledding - racing on the World Cup circuit ahead of the 2006 Winter Olympic Games in Torino Italy. He continues to play suburban football, and was part of the Albion Cats' 2010 premiership team in Western Region Football League.External links
