 where he took courses by Fedele Lampertico and Angelo Messedaglia, graduating in 1866. In 1868 he was named assistant to the chair in juridical-political studies.

In 1874, he taught at the Istituto tecnico of Venice until he was named professor at the University of Modena and Reggio Emilia in 1878, although, in between he was for a short time at the University of Padua.
In 1883, he became a professor at the University of Pisa and held the chair of political economics there until he died in 1918. His remains were placed nearby the church of Santa Maria Assunta at Pieve di Soligo
