In his role as a managing director of Imedi Tv in 2010 he was involved in a scandal. The tv station showed a fake tv news broadcast where Russia invaded Georgia. No subitles were shown which caused panic in the country. Tapes released later showed that Arveladze asked his journalists to avoid mentioning that the broadcast was fake. He has since argued that the tapes were fake.
